What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
AI is the field of building systems that perform tasks normally thought to require human intelligence: perceiving, reasoning, using language, and making decisions. It's a goal and a whole field of study, not a single technology.
Historically AI has taken two broad approaches:
We’ve been exactly where you are. A new concept can be difficult when the explanation isn’t clear or you’re missing the background it assumes. We know the gap only compounds, until the whole subject feels impossible. We built TutorKit to close that gap.
The founders came up through UC Berkeley and years of demanding study — one of us from an untraditional path. Along the way we learned that the most brilliant instructors often can’t see your struggle, because they never lived it. We teach for the person who didn’t get the head start.
We come from tutoring backgrounds, so we know exactly how to get someone to the “aha” moment. One founder coached their child, who wasn’t always advanced at academics, into national math olympiads; the other competed in world-class olympiads with honorable accolades and gold medals. Some of that is talent, but most of it is method and hard work.
